Cat with vertigo

Question
Hello. I have a cat who seems to be experiencing vertigo. (I had a cat before who had this from an accident, and I've had it before myself).
I've checked him for ticks (found none), and there are no obvious signs of anything else. (such as pain or injury). All I've found thus far, is that his ears are a little dirty (not bad).
I was wondering if there was anything I could try, or any medications I could give to him, or WHAT advice you would have for me on this.
I'm not able to afford to take him to his doctor, so any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :-)

Answer
When cats have vertigo it is almost always a middle ear and/or inner ear problem.  The only way to treat it is for the vet to have access to the middle ear for drainage or removal of a growth there.  I'm afraid that there really is nothing over the counter that you can get to help this if it is deep in the ear. It will require a vet's assistance.
