Question
My kitty 1 yr,has had a long bout with an URI, has seen 3 different vets, been on every antibiotic except Zpac, which is my last chance.Nothing helped, this is just the start of my questions...Seems my kitty, Charlie has developed anemia from fleas.I was told by 1st vet not to treat w/topical solutions because of his infection and immune system. So all i did was brush and pick em off.Now with 3rd vet, Charlie has recieved a blood transfusion,Epogen,Capstar,Liqui-tinic,and now Prednisone.oh,and IV fluids. He has his ups and downs still. Has bouts of eating good, and then turns his nose up.What I want to know is...how long before I might see improvement? My vet says he's a fighter, but this is breaking my heart watching him being so weak, breathing fast, fast heart rate etc....He's going back this morning to have his IV port removed, last night was not a good night...do you have any suggestions on what and how I can do at home to help get him better? He is on capstar now for fleas...thanks for any info or advice.....Dawn and "Charlie" :) And he is Fel luk negative.

Answer
Wow!!!!  Poor Charlie boy.  yes, I have some ideas for you two!
Sounds like you have a good vet working on him!

Let's get this boy onto some supplements and nutrition.

See if you can feed him some Cottage Cheese - just 2 teaspoons per day - Low fat brand.

Next, buy some Innova Canned Wet Cat food - Excellent Brand - see if you can get him to eat 1/4 a can ( or less) per day.. Increase amounts as he feels better.  ( INNOVA can be found at a pet store)

Buy some Salmon oil - give this boy 1/2 of a teaspoon ( or less) per day... Will help to build his strength and great for skin/coat.
( salmon oil located at pet stores )

Feline Formula of NuVET Plus - this will help to build his Immune System and fight off the MESS he has... Go to the NuVET site and read the Testimonials from Dog and CAT parents... Only about .50 cents per day for Charlie to have NuVET Supplements.---- All Natural and Safe for your boy.  He is very prone to infection and the NuVET will help him every step of the way!
