Question
I just adopted a 4 month old kitten. He got all his shots 5 days back. I took him to a local vet for check up today. She gave my cat the luk shot even though he never goes out side and told me it was best for him. Now tonight he doesnt want to eat or drink anything. All he wants to do is sleep. Is this a normal side effect? My vet never told me that he would have any problems.Hes just very lethargic.

Answer
While it doesn't happen often, some kittens and cats will have a side effect like this. Your cat can get leukemia by sitting at the screen door and having an infected cat hiss at him and spray droplets of virus into the air, so she is right, it will protect him. She should have tested him for the virus first. He should have been tested for all of the cat viruses, leukemia which is FELV, FIP, FIV and herpes.

There is a combo test that does them all. He should feel better by tomorrow but if not then call them and you may need to take him in for a check up.

Let them know that he isn't feeling well tomorrow and if he isn't eating and is still lethargic you call them first thing in the morning.
