Question
Hello!
I run a small in-home rescue for small animals...we recently received 2 ferrets...both have been fixed and descented...The male is really skinny, and losing hair on his tail, while the female is "heavier" and has all of her hair...we called our vet, but he says he cannot get them in for at least 4 weeks... Can you give me any advice on what to feed them to help them gain weight, and we believe that they may be dehydrated...our vet says to give them pedialyte... for the dehydration...the male also has fleas, can you suggest something for the fleas?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Jess

Answer
Hi Jess!

Get another vet! NO vet should push you aside for 4 weeks for a dehydrated animal. also the hairloss may be due to mange or poor nutrition.

Feed your ferrets a high quality diet, lots of veggies and ferret food. and lots of water! Make sure they have water. You may want to check some other vet places for some REBOUND, its made for animals.

Hope this helps some!
