Question
my 2 year old rottweiiler was just diagnosed with parkinsons. I wanted to become more informed on the subject but I cant seem to find any information at all, its like theres no such thing. Can you tell me where I can learn more on the subject. Thankyou very much.

Answer
Hi Sandra.  I would definitely recommend taking your baby to a different veterinarian.  I have never heard of a dog having Parkinson's disease.  I would hate to say that there is no such thing...but I have worked with animals in veterinary offices for so many years...some veterinary offices that specialize in internal medicine, and I have never heard of a dog developing parkinson's disease.  If you would like to, write back with some of your dog's symptoms.  I may be able to help you find an answer.  Canine Vestibular disease and Canine Encephalitis are two diseases that may cause "parkinson's like" symptoms. I would definitely, though, take your dog to a different veterinarian for a second opinion.
Please take care and give that rottie baby tons of get well kisses for me,
Hilary
