puppy concern

I just got a pomeranian puppy and he's 8 wks. old. I noticed he has been licking his urine after he goes "Potty".  Is this harmful for him?  And how do I stop him from doing it?

Make sure to take him outside to eliminate every hour on a leash and reward him and praise him when he does his business.  If he goes to lick the urine, tell him NO very firmly and pull him away.  It is not harmful for him but it is a bad habit and often puppies will mock their mom's in this behavior as mom licks the puppies excrement for the first several weeks of their lives.
