Question
I have a 6 year old male cat that has been sick for about a week.  He has been seen by two vets.  I have mentioned to each of them that I have noticed that the pink has almost gone from his nails (I noticed it when I clipped them).  What can this be a sign of?

P.S.  We are a military family and currently stationed in Italy.

Answer
Hi Jennifer!
This is an excellent observation.  The pink in the nails, also known as the "quick", is actually a vessel.  If you are seeing that this is gone from the nails, this indicates anemia.  What are some symptoms your cat is having?  Maybe I can help decifer what is ailing him.
Looking forward to hearing from you and sending tons of kitty get well kisses,
Hilary
