Skin care for English Spaniels

Question
Our 7 year old English Spaniel seems to have very sensitive skin. She scratches almost non stop during early spring time, but most days she licks herself quite often. Behaves more like a feline rather than a canine! Would apprecaite any advice from you.

Also, how often should we clean her ears?

Thank you.

Esther.

Answer
This is most likely an allergic dog that gets worse during periods of high antigen load, like the springtime.  You should have your vet treat for seasonal allergies.  As far as the ears, if they are not infected, I would say cleaning once every one or two weeks should be sufficient to keep them clean.
