I dont know if she is pregnant.

My dog was boarded for a week and in that time she had her first heat cycle I noticed after her heat cycle was over her vulva was swollen for a few days her nipples a little more protruding and then a few weeks after she has gotten more attention needed and more loving also I noticed lumps around each of her nipples and tries to eat any food she can get ahold of however I have waited about 8 weeks now and I still can't really tell if she is pregnant or not yes her belly has gotten a little bigger but not hat noticeable if you didn't see her before her heat. Her nipples now are very noticeable and her boobs feel alot bigger but a little saggy I have felt time after time for movement. Is it possible that she just has one or two puppies and I wouldn't be able to really tell. She is a chipoo (Chihuahua and poodle) or so her papers say she looks a little schnauzer. Do you think she is pregnant?

I guess that depends on if the boarding kennel let un-neutered dogs in there with her.

The estrus cycle lasts for 21 days. The first seven the vulva is swollen, the second seven days is when they bleed from the vulva and at the end of that period they are able to get pregnant. They then are still swollen for seven more days, whether or not they have been bred.

Many dogs will develop (literally!) more noticeable nipples and swelling after they have their first heat cycle. Since they are only pregnant for nine weeks it sounds as if she is having a false pregnancy or is just changed some from the heat.

My advice to you is now that she is out of heat get her spayed on Monday and you won't have to worry about it. If you wait until she goes into heat again you are increasing her risks of getting breast cancer more and more.

So please, get her spayed as soon as you can!
