Question
I have a puppy around 6 months old - I rescued her from animal control - I
don't know what kind of dog she is; she was suppose to be a lab mix but I
don't think she is going to get big enough to be a lab and she has a small
head - I would like to know what would be the cause of her eating her poop
or playing in it

Answer
The most common reason for dogs eating their feces is poor digestion.  It could be that her dog food is just not very digestible.  Most good quality dog foods do not fall into this category.  The other reason for poor digestion is overfeeding.  The food goes through the bowel undigested and it comes out still edible.  Measure her food.  Feed 1 cup of dry food per 10-15 pounds of body weight per day.
