Question
hi!  my 3 year old dog had a miscarriage.  blood dripped from her vagina.  since the day she lost her babies, she lost her appetite.  also, i noticed that she isolates herself from us (which she doesn't normally do.

1.  is this normal?
2.  what should i do (aside from going to the vet) to make her eat again?

thanks!

Answer
The loss of appetite is because there is something wrong, and not just because of depression from the miscarriage.  You need to take her to the vet.  This is not normal and there is a chance that she has an infection in her uterus.  If there is an infection in her uterus (pyometra) this could be life threatening and you do not want to wait on it.  Most often surgery is required.
