Dog neutering

Question
What kind of behavior should a 1 yr old malamute exhibit if he was neutered on 5 Aug 05?  Currently, he still looks and feels like he has his testicles.  Anytime I (female) pet him or play with him he gets "excited"...literally.  He does not do this with my fiance.  He has been marking all over our house.  He has access to the backyard through the doggy door and has used the bathroom outside on numerous occassions.  It seems he only pees in the house when we are at home, whether we are inside or outside in the backyard.  We adopted him from the Humane Socitey 1 1/2 weeks ago.  They told us it takes 30 days for his hormones to calm down and for him to stop marking.  Please help!

Answer
When an adult male is neutered, there is more likely to be swelling because of their mature size and this could take 2-3 weeks to go down.

Even a neutered male dog can become excited.

As far as the marking, that can also be a learned behavior and not just hormonal.  Some of it may be stress related or attention-seeking.  Consider getting DAP/Comfort Zone diffusers to help reduce any underlying anxiety.

Since he is having a lot of accidents, I would recommend having a urine sample checked to make sure he doesn't have a urinary tract infection.
