Question
My puppy is bout 7 weeks old and she has all her shots except for one which i believe is her worm shot. I just got her a week ago. The last 2 or 3 days she has been pooping blood sometimes its dry with blood and sometimes its wet with blood. She eats and drinks and play sometimes. Should I be worried and get her check? She loves putting anything in her mouth and likes eating grass sometimes. What should i do?

Answer
sorry for the delay. If you go to my web site, www.ChristinaChambreau.com and read the practice section you will see that it is good to only give one more Parvo and Distemper. Most veterinarians will want you to give 3 more sets of over 5 vaccines before she is finished. I do suspect at 7 weeks that she has worms severely enough to cause her to not play much.

You need to take some of her stool back to the veterinary clinic to be tested. They may also want to see her.

You can help, maybe, temporarily by getting marshmallow root powder or capsules from the health food store and giving about 1/8 teaspoon in some milk or tuna juice several time a day to her.

Putting things in their mouths is something all puppies (and toddlers) do. You must be vigilant and not let her do that since some things can get stuck in the gut and need surgery to remove or they can chew on electric cords and hurt themselves.

I am not at my regular computer, so please read some of my other answers here for the 7 keys to healthy animals, feeding a fresh food diet, how to select a veterinarian and Reiki and more.
