Question
After my eight year old dogs' second bout of bloody loose bowels over the past few months, my vet said that this might be due to colitis. My dog also had a fever. After a quick online search of colitis, I have not seen anything about an accompanying fever. Is fever associated with colitis?

Answer
Marilyn,
I am not a vet but a tech and the only thing I can tell you is that your dog might have ulcerative colitis which is what causes the bleeding.

With that going on, the dog could certainly run a fever. But I would get some treatment right away and get him on some W/D which is made to treat this condition.
Inflammation can cause fevers and this is an inflammatory disease.
