Question
Hi, I have a dove, I'm not sure if it's a male or female, I've had this bird for about 10
yrs  I just noticed that it's bleeding a lot from the bottom just behind it's legs, my
mom says that it could be a female and maybe it has her menstrual cycle, I'm not if
birds get that or not. But I've seen it poking at it with it's beak, and maybe it's that
sharp that it cut it open. I'm not to sure what to do other then take to a VET, but
maybe it's not something to worry about or it is. please help me with this..
Thanks in advance,

Answer
It is not a menstrual cycle. It could be the pecking, but why is she/he pecking?

I strongly suggest calling Dr. Ramelmeier, a veterinarian who specializes in homeopathy and birds. She can do a phone consult with you and tell you how to treat the dove. 410-531-9213

Or go to a local clinic that specializes in birds. This could be fatal.
