Orange rice like grains seem to be dropping off my puppy

Question
I have a 3 1/2 month old Shi Tzu puppy.  When I bought him, I took him to the vets who vaccinated him, and gave him an anti worming & flea solution.  She also informed me that he had ear mites which could be easily treated by a yellow like solution which I have been applying daily.  Since I started this treament, everytime he rests in any one place for a length of time, he leaves behind these small orange coloured rice like grains. On inspection the rice like grains appear to be hollow.  What are they and should I get him to the vets to get him checked out again?

Answer
Are they moving is my question? How small is small? You may have some kind of parasites in Germany that I know nothing about as the only thing I can compare them to is tapeworm segments which will fall off of the dog's hair and rectum then dry up. They can be slightly orange colored but are generally off white when dried. They look like small pieces of rice or orzo pasta.

For that you need to get him some tapeworm medicine. The medications she gave you are not for tapeworms. They get tapeworms from eating fleas and he must have had some on him when you got him.

That is about all I can tell you unless you send me a picture. I hope she also put him on heartworm medication!!
