Question
Hi...
We have a new kitten born 12/25/03... have had her for 3 1/2 days, she has vomited twice since we brought her home but seems to be eating ok.  Her bm's are still quite soft but not runny.  The person we got her from had recently changed her from IAMS to Walmart brand.  We changed her Sunday from Walmart brand to Canin babby kitten food.  Are we just over reacting or is it abnormal for her to be vomiting? and if so what steps should we take to help her?

Answer
Hello Barbara,

What is your kitten name? Does the Kitten vomit after eating? If so...the kitten has overeaten. If vomiting repeatedly, stop feeding and contact your veterinarian especially if the kitten's vomit is yellow or frothy, or contains worms.

Kittens are generally weaned around the age of 6 weeks old. If weaned too early, there can be problems with diarrhea and/or vomiting. Then dehydration becomes a risk, and it can be life threatening if left untreated. Was your kitten weaned very early? That can be a reason for the vomiting.
