Stomach Ulcer

Question
I attend a school where we learn to train exotic animals.  We do have one dog at the zoo, a Briard mix named Abbey.  For years, people thought she had a sensitive stomach because she throws up frequently.  But I think she has an ulcer because she only pukes up bile and it's only in the morning before she eats.  She is very picky eater so it is hard to get her to eat a lot of the time.  We have tried antacid pills and now we are giving her Maalox.  The Maalox seems to be working but it is not 100%.  Do you have any suggestions on what to do for a dog with a stomach ulcer?

Thank you.

Answer
If she had a stomach ulcer she would be most likely be throwing up blood or coffee ground-like material and would be pretty sick.  This is most likely due to an over acid stomach from the stomach being empty for too long.  An easy to digest food is warranted such as Hill's Sensitive Stomach.  You also want to make sure to feed her several meals throughout the day and especially before bed and first thing in the morning.  I would recommend adding digestive enzymes to her food such as PROZYME and giving her PROBIOTICS (available at a health food store).
