Dog licks herself, alot

I have a three year old Beagle who has lately been obsessed with cleaning herself. Not just after she goes to the bathroom, but anytime: middle of the night, laying on the couch, it doesn't matter. I've noticed that her area is slightly a red color so I've been trying to keep her from licking herself as it looks slightly irritated. Is there some reason she's doing this, or something else I need to do?

Try to get her onto some yogurt - give her some Activia Brand of yogurt, if you can find it .... ( active cultures)
