Castration Pain Relief

My 8 pound dog has just been neutered today and i was wondering if there was anything we can do to relieve the pain. Thanks in advance.

Hilary, your Vet can give him an injecion of pain medication at the time of his surgery that will last at least 24 hours afterwards, or an oral NSAID for a few days.  You can also use 1/2 a baby aspirin, or a 1/4 Ascripton morning and night for a couple of days.  I like Ascripton because it is coated with maalox.  It is easy on the stomach.  DO NOT give tylenol or ibuprofen.  Neutering does not have a particularly painful recovery time.  They usually are their normal selves the next day.  Maybe just a little hung over, nausiated and headache.  Very minimal.
