Question
I HAVE A 2 YEAR SCHNOODLE.  TOBY IS AN INDOOR DOG.  FOR THE LAST 6
MONTHS HE HAS HAD THIS TERRIBLE SMELL ON HIS BUTT.  NO POOP ON HIM
- NOTHING! IT DOESN'T SMELL LIKE POOP.  ITS NASTY AND I SCRUB HIM AND
THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENS AGAIN.  IT HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME AT NIGHT
WHEN WERE SLEEPING.  HE IS UTD ON SHOTS, ON HEARTWORM PILLS AND
FLEA AND TICK.  I LOVE HIM AND I JUST WANT TO FIX THIS FOR HIM.
THANK YOU SO MUCH AND GOD BLESS YOU!

Answer
Your dog has a leaky anal gland so you need to get him to the vets and have them expressed and maybe cleaned out.

They have glands on both sides of the rectum that are used for marking things (in the wild) but in domestic dogs they are more of a nuisance.
When the dog has a BM they usually empty themselves then but in some dogs they become impacted, and infected.
He needs to have a trip to the vet to get this fixed.
