Pacemaker in 9yr. old lab

Question
This is a working C.N.I.B. lab retriever  who has just been diagnosed with a third degree heart blockage.What is the recovery period and the quality of life after a pacemaker is put in. He has had a full workup and there are no other problems.This showed up on a E.C.G. We are going to check with the Washington State University as they have a vet center.

As a vet tech I have somewhat limited knowledge on pacemakers in dogs. Since we have never seen one here, I really cannot comment on this. You can re-post this to one of the vet's in here, or as Dr. Knapp of the E-vet forums in Yahoo groups. You will more likely get an answer that way.
