Cat Leaning to One Side

Question
My cat has one eye dilated and the other is not.  He's been laying in the same spot all day.  I tried to coax him up and he got up (he's very friendly) and followed me down the hall falling to one side the whole way.  He had great difficulty walking on the left side.  I brought food, water and litter up to the room and he ate and drank a little as well as used the litter box.  He let me pet him and purred.  He doesn't look like he's in pain but when he walks he keeps falling down, like he had a stroke and unless I call him he won't move.  I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, but if you can help me with any ideas now, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Answer
Is this cat young? You didn't tell me. Is he current on his vaccinations, such as leukemia? Has he ever been tested for it?

Cats don't have strokes like you and I have but they do have Central Nervous System problems that are like strokes. CNS episodes can have many causes, but generally affect older cats.

Vestibular syndrome starts in the inner ear and can cause balance problems and make cats circle and fall down. Uneven pupils can be the result of any of the above or a trauma such as getting banged by a car- which will also cause the other symptoms along with them.

So there is a variety of things that could have happened. Just keep him comfortable and inside. Don't feed him too much, as they dizziness might make him vomit.

I am glad you are taking him into the vets right away. The sooner the vet sees him and gets some drugs into him the better are his chances of recovery.

Please let me know how he does and what they find out at the vets.
I hope he makes a complete recovery.
