Stomach Ulcers

Question
I attend a school where we learn to train exotic animals.  We do have one dog at the zoo, a Briard mix named Abbey.  For years, people thought she had a sensitive stomach because she throws up frequently.  But I think she has an ulcer because she only pukes up bile and it's only in the morning before she eats.  She is very picky eater so it is hard to get her to eat a lot of the time.  We have tried antacid pills and now we are giving her Maalox.  The Maalox seems to be working but it is not 100%.  Do you have any suggestions on what to do for a dog with a stomach ulcer?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Amy!

have you taken Abbey to the vet yet for some bloodwork and possible xrays?  the blookwork would let you know of any metabolic issues (kidney and liver problems can cause vomiting) and the xrays could tell you if she has a thickened stomach.

food could also be the culprit, but have the other stuff checked out too.
