poodle jaw tremor

Question
I just noticed my 3.3 pound teacup poodle's lower jaw slightly tremoring back and forth....it stopped....and then started again....just a few tremors....

Very healthy dog 1.5 yrs old.....I thought it might be a loose tooth he was trying to get rid of but no wiggly teeth!

Hummmm

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Jenn

Answer
Hi Jennifer!

A tremor in the jaw can be a sign of a seizure. Other signs of a seizures are: if your dog seems suddenly "zone out" and suddenly becomes focused again, drooling excessively, crying, paddling feet as if running as well as losing control of their bladders and bowels.

If the tremors continue, it may be a good idea to have your vet run a general blood panel, and do an exam. Canine distemper, liver disease, kidney disease, some hormonal diseases and other systemic or organ system problems can lead to tremoring.

Don't panic, just watch your dog to see when the tremors happens, try to notice how alert your dog is while the tremor is happening, and how long and how often the tremors occur, so you can report back to your vet.

I hope this has been helpful and Iw ish you the best of luck! Please keep me posted and give that Poodle lots of get well kisses!Sending wagging tails your way!
