Cronic Yeast

Hi Maria,
We have a 7 year old AB, Piper, who has chronic yeast infections in his ears, paws, and now around is eyes.  We have given him antibiotics, eye cleanses (much against his will), and other ear creams.  The infection will clear up but not go away completely.  I am thinking he may be allergic to his food but not sure what to switch him to due to his age.  I feed him Ultra by Nutro large breed and don't want to start mixing w/out proper research.  Please advise before I spend hundreds on him, not that he isn't worth every penny :).  We already call him the $10,000 dog that has given that many laughs throughout his years.  He never stops making us laugh at the things he does and remembers.

First off: YES, a food change is a must.
Let's go with two foods - you will need to mix the two plus add your Nutro food to the mix - So, you will be working with 3 foods for 3 weeks. After about 20 days we will get rid of the Nutro and just mix the two foods I am going to suggest.

OK - I would like you to get the Core Dry food and buy the two kids of Wellness WET canned food ;

Rotate the canned  foods - flavors ( only use the ones I listed above)

For 3 weeks please feed:
1/3 Dry Nutro  ( about 32%)
1/3 Dry Wellness Core  ( about 32)
1/3 Wet food - wellness  ( about 32%)

When I State 1/3, this is how to make the "combo" of the 3 foods.
I am not asking you to only feed 1/3 of a cup - this is just to help you figure how to feed and break down %.

So you were feeding 100% of the Nutro food - **** now you will be feeding only 32% of the Nutro at Each feeding.  Still feed 2 meals per day if that is how he was fed before.  If he only eats one time per day that is fine.  Keep him on the one or two meals per day.

Slow change over is done to avoid LOOSE POOPS and stress on the system.
ONE more thing - YOU will feed LESS of WELLNESS core because there is no junk - No grains.... Poops will be smaller, too!
