Question
A friend suggests cod liver oil for my cat's dermatitis.  I've been looking at Nordic Naturals.  My cat eats feline s/o cat food since he was a kitten due to a blockage.  Can you suggest a dosage of cod liver oil and is it safe with the s/o cat food.

Answer
I'm not sure what feline s/o cat food is. Is that the one by Royal Canin?

Cod liver oil is high in vitamin A which can be bad for cats past a small quantity. Fish body oil (or salmon oil) would be much better. I give it to my dogs and myself and my cats too.

Nordic Naturals is a very high quality company, one of the best. I raw feed so I'd not know how much to use if you are using kibble or canned. You might want to consider switching over, especially if he is on kibble. Cats get addicted to it but it can be done.

Please give me more info on what you are feeding and what the "blockage" was about.
