White Spots (Blisters)

Question
Hello. We have a 12 gallons tank that has been cycling for 3 weeks. All the levels are good. We only have two clown fish. They both have one white spot on them that looks like a blister or a wart. Is this ich or just a virus. They have had it for a week or so, so I don't think it is ich because everything I read says they would be dead in 3 to 4 days. Any help with this will help. Any medication that I can get?

Answer
Hi there,
You should never cycle a tank with fish in it, I am surprised they are still alive. My only advise would be to take them back to the fish store and wait for your tank to be ready. You should cycle with live rock and feed the tank every other day with some food that you would normally be feeding the fish if there were some in there. After about the 3rd week you can add things like snails and hermit crabs to help clean up the small amount of food you are feeding the tank but fish should not be added before 4-6 weeks once the levels have hit 0 again. Its definitely not white spot, this covers their body completely. I would say it is something to do with them going through the cycle, nitrite and ammonia can poison them even if they don't die.
Hope this helps.
