Question
Is there a limit on how bright a aquarium can be? Will super bright lights be harmful to fish?

Answer
Hi Eric:

Generally speaking, since fish are mobile and can easily dart in and out of rocks and hide in caves, they generally are not affected by what could be considered too bright of lighting. Temperature is a big factor when using powerful bright lighting, and powerful bright lighting can warm water temperatures to non desirable levels.

Super brights lights can be very harmful to coral in a saltwater reef aquarium.

Thanks for the question.

Regards.
