pool sand

Do I need to empty the pool if I had used all purpose sand but am switching it out?

im not sure i understand your question...

Do you have regular sand in your pool, or aquarium?  

basically, you need to find ARAGONITE sand... all purpose maybe silica sand...

silica is not good for aquariums.. it will lead to algea blooms and higher silica levels...

look for aragonite sand.
