goby death

Question
I have a 33 gal Red Sea reef tank. it has been in operation for approx
6months. we have max amt of live rock, a few corals (including a tube
anenome we didn't know could be poisonous to fish), a brittle star, cleaner
shrimp, a small emerald crab, 3 turbo snails, 2 feather duster worms, 11
inches of fish which includes 2 clown, 1 wrasse, 1  crome damsel & an angel.
we have not lost anything major since the tank has been operating. we feed
one cube once a day of a frozen saltwater food (multi pack and shrimp).
occasionally i feed with an approved flake food too. well, in just a day and a
half, my gobe (name ? but is white with yellow rimmed gills and orange dots
and stripes down its back) died. we had it for several months and grew to
approx 3 inches long. it was a vigorous eater from the gravel and when fed. it
had no enemies in the tank. there is no sign of disease on it. it does not look
emaciated. the water temp is around 79-80 degrees. the salinity level is
correct for this tank. algea is under control. nothing has been added recently
to the tank although we have stated putting additives in like calcium,
carbonate, iodide and magnesium. any ideas why my goby died? p.s. none of
the other fish seem infirmed.

Answer
Hey Meridith

He might have died from an internal disease, i know lots of people on forums who have had gobies suddenly die, and internal disease has seemed to be the conclusion in gobies mysterious deaths. your water parameters sound good, so you have nothing to worry about with your other fish
