Question
I was having problems with my old skimmer.  Micro bubbles were getting in the sump and my pump was blowing them into the tank.  I just got a new ASM Mini G and it is producing more micro bubbles in the sump than before with the old skimmer.  Is this part of the break in of a new skimmer?  will the bubbles hurt the fish or corals in my tank?

Thanks,

Scott

Answer
Hi Scott,
Too many bubbles in the display can be a problem. Death for a curious fish, can cause problems for some corals, etc. But in general it's the appearance that most aquarists hate. The ASM Mini G is not a horrible skimmer.... with some modifications. The bubbles are not part of the break in, just part of a not-so-well-made skimmer. The Sea Clone has similar issues. In all honesty, you can take that one back and get a much better skimmer(Aqua C Remora series, Prism series) for the same money or $20-$30 more. Or you can spend alot of time making modifications to the ASM to make it work the way it's supposed to. Thats my 2 cents worth. If you decide to do some mods let me know and I can get you started with some really easy good ones. But I would just take it back and save time and headaches. Let me know how it goes.
