Porcupine Puffer

Question
I have a question regarding my porcupine puffer he is about 4 inches from head to tail and I've had him for 5 weeks. He is in my 30 gallon quarantine tank along with one small blue damsel and two hermit crabs. The quarantine tank has been running for about a year. It has a sand substrate with some live rock. A penguin bio wheel filter and a Fluval 305 canister filter. I've had a problem with hair algae so I'm using phosphate reducing filter media. I would guess my ph at 8.1, nitrite 0 ppm, nitrate 10 ppm, and ammonia at .25 ppm. I have a floresent light that is on from 7-9 am and 1-8 pm. I feed him frozen krill, frozen silversides and maybe one goldfish a week. When I feed him I put the food on a wooden stick and wave it in front of him sometimes he will eat and sometimes he doesn't. I can nomally only get him to eat at night. I only feed him the goldfish because of course that is his favorite. He generally stays under the rock most all of the day and only comes out for a little at night. Which I know they are nocturnal be he doesn't seem very active. They only time he really swims around a lot is when he is trying to catch the goldfish is this normal? He does have some really small white spots on his fins only. Maybe 2-3 on each fin.  I've had other fish with ich and this doesn't look the same. Some days he doesn't have any and other days he does but like I said none on his body. Should I treat for ich? My main concern is that he looks like he is trying to poop. Or has poop hanging out with maybe his intestine. What can I do for this? I guess he seems to be doing ok but like I said doesn't seem very active but maybe this is normal for a porcupine but kind of disappointing as he isn't a lot of fun to watch.

Thanks

Answer
HEllo Tammy,

I am sorry that i do not know that much on specific deseases or parasites.

I would suggest a couple things though.

I like API  MELA Fix.  it is a natural suppliment that will strengthen the immune systems and help rid some issues...

OTher then that, I would suggest posting this info, (which is very good and detailed) on my new forum at www.thelittleocean.com

I have a couple marine biologist that are members that are more knowldedgable with marine life and desieases, and one that is into the more aggressive species...

sorry i could not be more helpful, and hope you can find some better info on thelittleocean.com
