Question
I have two small bead like things growing on a piece of live rock, the interesting thing is that they look like mercury (silverish) any thoughts?? The tank is a mix of fish and low level corals.

Answer
Hi Kevin,
Without a picture I'm not much help to you in the i.d. department. Many things start in a similar fashion. There are numerous species of sponges, anemone and coral, that start as a silvery ball shape, or like a dropped wad of cookie dough... If you can get me a clear picture I'll be alot more help. Otherwise, check water quality and keep an eye on them, they are more than likely nothing to be worried about(unless you have a reason to believe you have drops of mercury in your reef?). Life developes fairly quickly in marine environments so you should be seeing something new soon.
