Two Little Fishies Pho
Hi LaShawn,

Red Slime (cyanobacteria) can be eradicated by using a quality product like Boyd ChemiClean Red Slime Remover, which naturally helps to break down the cellular structure of it. As with any product one chooses to use, read and follow the instructions for usage as directed.

Reminder: the red slime algae needs phosphates to feed and grow; therefore following treatment, if you make your regularly scheduled (reverse osmosis) water changes, and make sure to not over-feed, this will help to keep the phosphate levels down in your aquarium.

Running a protein skimmer and a phosban reactor can also help. The phosban reactor holds media that will help control red slime algae for about three months; this product is very effective. We run a phosban reactor 150 on our office reef aquarium. Below see the links from our website on the Boyd ChemiClean Red Slime Remover and the Two Little Fishies Brand Phosban Reactor.
