Cleaning my tank

Question
Is it a bad thing if i don't clean my tank very often? I do it about once a month, or longer, and yet everything seems to be prefect. I don't want to mess with a good thing, but I'm worried that all of a sudden everything will fail. Should i clean it or let it go?

Hi Jade. Make sure you are testing your tank for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. If all these levels are in a safe range and all the creatures in your tank are thriving then once a month seems to be working for you. I wouldn't let it go much longer than that. If you have any corals in your tank then you may want to consider using some kind of supplement to make up for any lost trace minerals.
