Question
Hi Jennifer,
So have a new problem. This morning when i first got up to feed my fish and everything seemed to be going to according to plan no issues. Then I  noticed my flame angel laying on her side. When she flipped over i notice she had a white scabby thing on her side near her gills. I took a picture and brought it to my LFS and he identified it as a possible fungil infection. He thinks something cut her and bacteria got inside. He told me to give her some frozen brine shrimp with garlic mixed together, and i did that.  In fact its the only time she swims other wises she's back on her side.I also did a water change as the salinity was a bit on the high side. I didn't know it you knew of anything else i could do to save her.
Thanks again,
Melissa

Answer
Hi Melissa. There is a product on the market that treats bacterial and fugal infections on fish that you actually have to apply to the wound. I have used this on a black heni and it worked very well. It is a bit tricky to apply and you have to follow the directions exactly and apply as often as it instructs you to. It is called Bio Bandage made by Pond Solutions. You can also try a product called pimafix by aquarium pharmaceuticals. This works well if the fish is not too far gone and is totally safe for your good bacteria and for a reef tank. You can also use both of these together with no ill effect on your tank or its other inhabitants.
