Do protein skimmers help in reduce the ammonia in water?

Hello Allen,

The protein skimmer will help in removing all 'disolved ORGANIC compounds'. (ammonia/waste would be one of them)

BUT, a skimmer probably would not be adequate in removing enough of it quick enough...

You need to figure out why you have ammonia in the first place. Your biological filtration is not up to abilit/quatinity to handle all the fish you have??? Did you just add more rock or sand?? Did you add fish too soon after you added the rock or sand?
