Question
what is needed in my tank to keep a mandarin green goby alive? I have not yet recieved my live rock i am waiting for it to be cultured once it is how long must i wait till i can put a goby in the tank with the live rock? Also my tank is a 55 gal. so is that enough room?

Answer
Hello Jenny,

Once you get your live rock, you will need to CURE it, it is probably already cultured.  (cultured = seeded)

Curing and maturing is what is needed to sustain mandarins.  And that is for the entire tank, not just hte live rock.

The little critter is infamous for eating PODs.  (copepods).  I have seen some eat other foods, but, they did so out of starvation and usually perished soon after...

Once you have a mature tank and a mandarin, you will see that they spend thier entire day hunting.  They miss more then they catch, and they will die without a seasoned tank.

My suggestion is NO LESS THEN ONE YEAR OLD TANK.

Good luck and let me know how you do when you get one?
