Lights for a salt water aquarium

Hi David,
I am in the process of starting my own home salt water aquarium. I am looking up how much lightning for a Fish and Coral set up would need. Are UV lights needed or just fluorescent lights? The tank I am looking at is 4 ft (30 litres).

Any information you could assist me with would be great?

Hi Amanda:  You would need 4-5 watts of light per gallon of water. The light would need to be balanced in terms of the light spectrum according to the needs of the coral and fish... This may mean you would have to set up more then one bulb type... dave
