Question
Hi, Bill, Ive recently bought a large 6" inch Blue Hippo Tang . He has HLLE and his right eye is cloudy,he is also scratching himself on the live rock.I told LFS i would take him anyways and try to get him back to good health. he doesn't appear to have ich. His breathing is a little fast, not really eating either, but he is a good size and not thin. Im treating him with Pimafix, and Melafix together. Im on day 3 with not much improvment.I have him in my 75 gallon tank, using a UV sterilizer.I dont want to lose or see him get worse. What else can i do for him? Do you any suggestions? Thanks, Chris From New Hampshire.

Answer
Hey Chris,

If you are sure it is HLLE, then you might want to try treating him in something a be more powerful then the products you are using...  (those products are a bit on the 'homeopathic' side of medicine, i.e. over the counter stuff

i would start off with some antiboitics, maybe the myacin treatment...

and it would probably be good to go with hypo salinity environment as well...

If your tank has other critters or anytihng, than you shouldnt use the other medicines or the hypo treatment unless you setup a Hospitol tank...

Other then that, Im not sure there is much to be done.. HLLE is fatal the majority of the times...but that is usually due to late treatment and the unavialibility of a hospital/treatment tank

Good luck to you and please let me know how things work out for you
