From Fresh to Salt Water

Hi,
I recently just started cycling my thank 7 days ago, in the 2 nd day I try adding a fish and it ended up dying, due to an unfinished tank cycle, I have a 28 gallon with one power head connected to the backpack protein skimmer but my question is how do you know if your getting enough circulation in the tank.

should my live rocks turn a certain color?

to be honest you can't really get enough flow in the tank, your aiming for 20X total tank volume turnover per hour. so your looking at 28,000 litres per hour. sounds alot but get a couple of hydor koralia 2's and maybe a couple of 1's and your set.

the rock will eventually go purple, as the tank is cycling it will go all sorts of colours green, brown, red but it will eventually clear and if your calcium levels are good it will purple up.
