Question
hi there i am attempting to run a marine tank for only the 2nd time in 10 years this time i have done all the research for the setup. I have a river reef 94 l tank it has a built in filter system at the back. I have the temp set to 25 degrees and the salt level is reading at 1.022. I have made the neccesary modifications so in the first chamber i have the filter balls at the bottom and sponge at top the 2nd chamber i have all the filter media 2 bags of them with carbon media in between and foam pad on top and chamber 3 i have a nano skimmer and thermostat where water level is slightly lower thean first 2 chambers and in chamber 4 i have 2 return pumps. The problem is i have had it running for 3 days and the water is still rather cloudy when it should have clearded by now. so what can i do?

thanx

Answer
Dan, I am sorry it has taken so long for us to get back to you. I would like to know if your bacteria bloom has settled and since your going reef how large is your tank. I don't usually do reef unless it's big water but, I want your tank to be successful and do not want to see you discouraged from keeping a beautiful salt tank. Reef systems are abit touchy. It's been awhile so you probably don't remember how long it took the last time for your bacteria to settle. Remember stock slowly. All your specs. sound good but, remember you are going to spike your ammonia's soon after you add fish. I recommend always cycling salt tanks for at least three weeks with live bacteria called "cycle" it is going to cloud abit more but your ecosystem establishes quicker. If you have any question's or are having a problem please feel free to ask. Good Luck, Tina
