Question
I hve a dogface puffer for about 2 months now and i've noticed some really small white spots all over its body....when i've looked closer they look like they've attached themselves to my fish? can you tell me what they are and how can i treat it?  It looks like my fish is annoyed with whatever is on him. he is constantly tryin to scrape his body against my rocks in the tank? Are they bad for my dogface?

Answer
Hello Dalene,

Im not totally sure, but it sounds like it might be ich

API  (aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc, has some natural types of ich treatment, as is a product called KICK-ICH

Both are natural and both have great reviews.

Fish tend to show signs of ICH when they are stressed or not doing well.  Thier immune system becomes more susceptable to issues like this and worse..

Im guessing that since you moved/added him he hasnt really gotten well, and maybe this is due to transporting and acclimation issues

You might want to try feeding healthy variety of foods, including vegatbles...

You can soak seaweed or other things in garlic and selcon to attrat/entice the fish to eat, and to give him something healthy.

They also sell UV lights that help kill ich and other parasites and bad organisms, (Actually UV will kill any organism) if exposed to it long enough...

So, make sure you get the right sized UV light and have the right size pump on it...

All these things should help.

Good luck
