Question
i have just downsized my 100 gallon reef tank to a 16 gallon nano cube because of space problems.my quesion is is it possible for a tank to have too much flow? i have just started this tank practically from scratch so the only inhabitants are a damsel and some snails and hermit crabs. well the reurn pump from the sump lets out alot of flow and i have just put in another power head because i a planning to have a reef in there with anemones and corals that need lots of flow. but the pumps are thrashing he water around so much that my fish is hiding and is o scared he wont come out to eat. also my sand bed is constanly changing because of the flow so it is all uneven. so is this poosible? with only wo pumps? the tank is very small and is cube haped

Answer
Hi marus,

Question: Is it possible for a tank to have too much flow?

Answer: Yes if it is to bothersome to the tank inhabitants. Fish do like water flow, but if it's too strong then they will stay clear of it. Also regarding corals they too like and need water flow, but again too strong of a current will harm them.

Try to adjust the water flow in your aquarium, so it's not so strong.

Best Regards,
Dave
