aquarium stand finish

I am setting up a new saltwater tank at my home. I have purchased a 55 flat back hex with an unfinished cabinet and canopy. I wanted to stain and finish the cabinet. What can i use that wont give me problems with sealife, and do i stain and finish the inside of the canopy.

The stain and varnish that you use are not going to effect the livestock in the aquarium unless you pour it in the tank or are finishing the stand in an unventilated room with them in it.

Stain away!
