Question
hello again,I am the person with the blackmorre with the blood spot in his eye the vet said that it is  blood and that it may stay the same or get better or fall out .. well I brought my fish to the vet and she told me to put my fish on the tetracycline like you said.. she said to do it for 2 weeks but after about a week I noticed that his eye was srinking and its wiggly and kinda soft I could tell when he press on the glass of his tank so I stoped treatment  is this what happends befor the eye falls off? and if his eye falls out will he be able to live a happy life? and would just the eye come off or the whole thing like the bubble part to you know the part that holds the eye ?thanks

Answer
Hello,

I would say your best bet is to continue tetracycline. This will keep him healthy, whether his eye will fall out or not. Fish can still live very healthy lives with only one eye. In fact, I currenlty have a single eyed electric blue who is growing up very well.

If there eye falls out the entire eyeball falls out. Nothing around it- no skin or anything. The white stuff and black stuff of the eye would fall out.

It is hard to say if the shrinking and wiggly bit of an eye is the prelude to it falling out as I have never actually seen a fish's eye fall out. I just woke up one morning and found it had gone.

I hope this helps, and if you need any more help let me know!

Good-luck,
From Stephanie
