adding angel fish

Question
I have just started a new aquarium.  My goal was to have an angel fish once the tank was firmly established.  I read somewhere that you could house an angel fish with barbs so long as they were in a large enough school, so I now have 6 red glass barbs...Now they're established and I'm worried because I keep hearing conflicting tunes that these barbs will and wont work with the angel fish...that they'll nip or wont...They require the same water conditions which i've set and am working to keep...I've put in the right amount of space and bought a tank to house an angel fish... now I'm confused and worried because I really want an angel fish and now I'm worried I can't have the tank I started out planning and I can't afford or house another tank over 20 gallons...My question is can these two possibly be compatible...or am I just out of luck for a while on my angel fish quest?

Answer
Hi Brash,
Thank you for your letter. People say that angel fish are aggressive, hence the ironic name "angel." You can try it with the six red glass barbs. You will soon find out if they fight. If so, sometimes aquarium shops will take fish back if they're healthy.
The main thing is do  not over feed fish. That's usually what kills them.
