Hi Nadine,
Yes, a goldfish will be fine without aeration. Just be sure you do not over feed him, because small tanks are easily polluted. Stop it back until you know he is hungry. Give him a couple of flakes per square inch of fish per day, or every other day. If any food hits the ground, it means he's not hungry.
Also, be sure to use Cycle in the hospital tank.
Or, you could restrict feeding in the main tank. He can stay in the main tank with reduced diet unless other fish are attacking him. It might be less stressful to just leave him where he is and reduce feeding and gradually change out the water using the "emergency care" instructions at my web site.

Answer
Hi - It doesn't bother me ;-)
I know from experience how traumatic this hobby can be, so I like to help people.
If he has quit eating, stop feeding him. A fish can go several days without food, especially an ailing fish.
I suggest that you reduce food to all tank inhabitants for a little while to let the water clear up. If your goldfish starts to show interest in the other fishs' food, give him a little bit too.
If he is suffering from old age, there's nothing you can do. Just cut back on food and use Cycle to treat the water.
