Growth on Crabs

Question
I had two Red Pacu, one of which was about a year old and survived a 24 hour trip from arizona in the back of a U-Haul.  I added a Wal-mart fish to the tank, which dissapeared shortly after.  I have since noticed what was thought to be ich and treated as such.  This did not cure anything.  After a couple of days, both Pacu died.  I also had a Pleco and 3 Red Thai crabs in the same tank.  They survived this whole ordeal.  I have since cleaned the tank and confined the remaining to a quarantine tank where I am trying for 3 weeks now to treat a growth on the crabs and Pleco.  It almost looks clear to white and pillowy.  I have tried salt, Ich cure, Fungus cure and nothing is getting rid of it.  I have set back up the other aquarium, but do not want to add these crab and Pleco while this growth persists.  Am I chasing a ghost.  I tried to take a picture, but won't quite turn out.  Please HELP>

Answer
Hi Shawn,
The fungus can be caused by poor water quality. You may want to test your water. Is your tank cycled? If not you will never be able to get rid of the fungus and the ich. To cycle your tank you msut do daily water changes and testing of the water. This will bring the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels down.

Chloe.
